Brasserie Blanc serve classic French dishes that have been devised by Raymond Blanc, and the Oxford location is a great option for those looking for a more casual version of Raymond Blanc’s signature restaurants at more reasonable prices. The dishes were served well, and the service was warm and welcoming. We recommend you try the Chateaubriand, this is a foodies dream and a great sharing option.
We started our evening with an aperitif, two fine glasses of Mousseau Rose, a delicious sparkling French rose with a fresh and fruity aroma, very satisfying on the palate.
To begin I ordered the Crispy Goat’s Cheese Parcel, served with a Pea and Broad Bean Salad, and a superb Tomato and Chilli Dressing. An excellent dish to start with, the salad and Goat’s Cheese delivered strong flavours. My partner opted for the Potted Cromer Crab, the Crab was tender and very fresh tasting, served with Avocado, Shallot and Coriander Guacamole, Prawn Butter, and Toasted Pain de Champagne.
“A fine example of what Brasserie Blanc has to offer.”
For our main course we shared the Chateaubriand for two. The Chateaubriand was carved for us tableside which is an experience we recommend, and served with Grilled Tomato and Garlic, and the most beautiful Pepper Sauce. We can’t speak highly enough of this dish, it’s worth travelling to experience. We added sides of Dauphinoise Potatoes, and their House Coleslaw Salad to complete our meals and both dishes were prepared to an equally high standard.
Our choice of wine for the evening was a bottle of 2012, Chateau Martinat, Cotes de Bourg, France. A wine with a beautifully dark and deep colour, floral aromas, and a hint of Liquorice.
This is a fine example of what Brasserie Blanc has to offer, the dishes designed by Raymond Blanc have been created with a touch of class which is evident from the first mouthful.
