Located inside Chateau de la Cazine is their house restaurant. Upon walking in we were impressed, it's a beautifully presented dining room with elegant décor and furnishings, and the food is faultless. The restaurant was fairly quiet during our visit, and the service was on the young side. But where they may have lacked experience, they more than made up for with attentiveness and enthusiasm. Their sommelier is very knowledgeable and assists diners through their meals with suggested wine pairings.
For starters we had thenaturally cooked foie gras, with sweet pear and ginger, and beetroot. The pear was very sweet, and together with the ginger it gave the dish a delicious flavour. It worked well with the smooth fois gras, very nice. My partners starter was Crispy Langoustine Kadaïf, with Mango and Pickled orange. The langoustine was prepared to perfection and the fruity accompaniment gave it a nice tangy flavour.
“A nice indulgent blend of flavours.”
For main course I wanted a fish dish, so I opted for the Fresh Cod with lemon grass,a serving of Warm Leek Maki, and a Hollandaise Sauce with Yuzu.Thesaucereally brought out the flavour in fish, and this was absolutely superb. My partner chose the ‘Limousine’ Beef Fillet in a Marrow Crust, prepared with a Fine Soy Sauce and “Anna” Potatoes. The fillet came outexactly as requested and was very juicy and flavoursome, it was served looking as delicious as it tasted.
We enjoyed a couple of choices from their dessert menu, we had the Meringue which came out Shell-shaped andserved with a ‘Hennessy’ cognac flavoured ice cream, Hazelnut Biscuit and Caramelised Praline. A rich dessert with a nice cognac kick, great end to the meal. We also had the Crunchy Pineapple,Lime, and Passion Fruit, with a Coconut Emulsion. A nice indulgent blend of strong flavours, a great way to leave the palate at the end of the evening.
