Another new contender in the Manchester dining scene is simply named Neighbourhood. It’s a must see for anyone looking for somewhere fun and funky. It’s themed and inspired by New York, and the styling team have done a fabulous job bringing a small piece of New York to Manchester.

The establishment is split over to two levels. There is a large bar area, and a lower ground area for those looking to enjoy dinner in a quieter environment. They have large tables, with absolutely gorgeous, large armchairs that are incredibly comfortable. Or, there is the option of a large booth style table. Both options are nice places to sit, which isn’t a lot to ask but not always the case.

"...a great night and I would happily return."

We opened up the evening with two glasses of Perrier Jouet Blaison Rose NV, a great aperitif to wake up the palate for the evening. The staff in Neighbourhood are very prompt and helpful, it’s a joy ordering. We also ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, Callia San Juna, Argentina for the table. It’s a strong red with hints of baking spices and an intense flavour.

For starters we ordered Grilled Cheese Dumplings and Vine Tomato Soup, with Crisp Pancetta and Parmaesan. Also, a serving of Shrimp Crackle and Pop Shellfish Bisque, Rice Crispies and Shrimp Chips. Both dishes brought together flavours that marry up well, and were prepared to our satisfaction.

For mains we had the 8oz New York Strip Steak with Pepper Sauce, and an 8oz Fillet Steak with Chimichurri Sauce. Sides; Neighbourhood Fries, Lobster Mash, and a Mac and Cheese. Plenty of NYC influenced flavours here, the steaks were cooked to perfection.

We had a little space left for dessert and choose a Lemon and Raspberry Pavlova, and a White Chocolate Mousse to share. Delectable, rich dessert, rounded off a great night and I would happily return to try some more dishes.
