The Oval Restaurant is located in The Wellesley in Knightsbridge. This intimate 28 cover exclusive restaurant is tucked away at the rear of the hotel, but it’s a great find. The dining room is stunning, it has an Art Deco appearance and a touch of luxury to help provide the perfect place for an evening of fine Italian cuisine. Service was attentive and we were left wanting nothing.

We began our evening with an aperitif. Two glasses of Champagne in the way of Veuve Clicquot, Cuvée, Rosé NV, a delicious lively champagne which prepared us well for the evening ahead.

We started off by ordering the Lentil soup, served with fresh Beetroots and Cream of Burrata, Lentil soup is one of my personal favourites, the Beetroot was a welcomed addition and complimented the soup well. My partner ordered the Linguine, with Scottish Lobster, Chilli and a Pachino Tomato Sauce. The Linguine was delicious, and the Chilli gave this dish a subtle kick.

“Italian charm in the heart of London.”

For our main courses we opted for the Rack of Lamb with Purple Cauliflowers and Sweet Potato Purée. A wonderful choice, presented masterfully. The Purple Cauliflower complemented the Lamb very well. My partner ordered the Scottish Beef Fillet with Foie Gras, Aromatic Herbs and Ponte Nuovo Potatoes. Again, a fantastic dish with a range of delicious flavours perfectly executed.

To complete our evening we shared the Dark Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Ice Cream. This was a fun dessert to share, the soft-centred Chocolate was the perfect consistency as it escaped as we cut into the Fondant.

Our chosen wine for the evening was a bottle of 2013, Neprica, Tormaresca, Puglia, Italy. A wine offering an intelligent blend of grapes and delivering a complex, but smooth taste. Oval Restaurant delivers a taste of Italian charm in the heart of London.
