The Titanic Hotel is home to Stanley's Bar & Grill. Given that the hotel has a strong urban feel, we were expecting the restaurant to be somewhat of an urban hip hangout for Liverpool's hip and trendy. However on the evening we visited the restaurant was fairly quiet, so we had most of the restaurant to ourselves.

The service was friendly and we were seated promptly, we liked the open-plan kitchen allowing guests to watch over as your dishes are created. We started the evening off with two glasses of Champagne de Barfontac Rose NV, an interesting champagne setting up for the evening ahead.

“I recommend Stanley's Bar and Grill, it's worth it for the food.”

For our first course I ordered the Lentil Broth with Yoghurt and Coriander Leaves, one of my personal favourites and this was no exception, simple in presentation but well executed. My partner ordered the Chicken Liver Parfait with Nutmeg Butter, Fig Jam and Pan d’epices another fine dish, the Nutmeg Butter complemented the dish very well.

For our main course we decided on the Chateaubriand for two with Fondant Potato, Cumin Roasted Carrots, Kale and Black Garlic Puree. This was beautifully presented on a cast iron skillet and tasted divine, Kale is one of my all time favourites so I was only too pleased to demolish this, we also sampled their Peppercorn Sauce which was the perfect way to complete this dish.

Unfortunately we couldn't manage a dessert, however I must confess the cuisine which is being served here was thoroughly enjoyable and we cannot fault it.

For the wine choice, we ordered a bottle of 2007, Chateau d'angles Grand Vin, France, an opulent, ripe and structured wine with a superb full flavour.

I recommend Stanley's Bar & Grill if you’re staying at the Titanic Hotel or perhaps visiting Liverpool, it's worth it for the food.
