Hartnett Holder and Co is located inside the wonderful Lime Wood hotel. The restaurant is overseen by Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder. The menu celebrates British cuisine and every mouthful is a celebration in itself. The service is relaxed and welcoming, the interiors are interesting and comfortable, and Hartnett Holder and Co gets a firm thumbs up from us.

We started the evening with two glasses of Billecart-Salmon, Brut Rose, an elegant champagne with a subtle aroma that leads you through a journey of red fruits, and citrus zest.

To begin we ordered the Polenta Agnolotti with Truffle, Artichoke, and Dried Tomato. A superb dish, the flavours were strong and the Agnolotti was cooked to perfection. My partner ordered the Tagliatelle with Squid, Cauliflower, and Capers. Another superb pasta dish, we enjoyed every mouthful and were excited to move on to our main courses.

“Each and every dish was presented immaculately and the flavours were superb.”

For our main course we ordered the Stone Bass with Lobster and Wild Garlic Salad. An enjoyable dish and once again displaying their attention to detail. My partner ordered the Beef Cheek with Braised Carrot, Parsley, and Crusted Bone Marrow. The Beef Cheek was tender and full of flavour. We added sides of Roast Pumpkin with Pumpkin Seed Pesto, and Tender Stem Broccoli.

Moving on to dessert we had a selection of Chocolate, Pistachio, and Vanilla Gelati, and I sampled the Winter Berries and Passion Fruit Sorbet. An enjoyable selection, and the perfect end to an exceptional evening. Our chosen wine for the evening was a bottle of 2011, Chêne Bleu, Astralabe, IGP Vaucluse, Rhône, France. A full-bodied wine packed with ripe red fruits and hint of spices and herbs, an excellent wine to accompany meat and fish dishes and the perfect choice for our evening.

We were well looked after by the staff, each and every dish was presented immaculately and the flavours were superb. We look forward to returning in the future to sample more dishes from their menu.
