The Pier Hotel in Harwich is part of the Milsom Hotels group who own a range of venues in East Anglia. The Pier’s harbour-front location makes it the ideal location for a stay, whether you’re travelling on a ferry or just visiting the area.

The Grade II listed building is a traditional whitewashed seaside hotel with blue painted accents. It is clean, tidy and well-maintained. The hotel includes 2 buildings, the main one and a secondary one beside it where they hold business meetings and weddings.

We were greeted warmly in the lobby and presented to reception where we were checked in and escorted to our Mayflower Suite. The décor in the hotel is light and comfortable. There is nothing outlandish or particularly striking about it, but it does provide a lovely, relaxing atmosphere ideal for a seaside escape. This colour scheme was echoed in our large suite on the first floor.

“The Pier Hotel in Harwich is a lovely, relaxing venue, ideal for a seaside escape.”

The highlight of the room was the sea view. Being right on the seafront, we had an uninterrupted view of it through our large window. There was also a telescope for us to watch the many ships passing by.

The rest of the room was equally impressive. The allocation of space is generous, with a separate seating area with a sofa and two armchairs, a coffee table, huge LCD TV, BOSE sound system and everything you would expect in a modern hotel room. The suite was high quality, with Mulberry soft furnishings and well-upholstered furniture.

The bathroom was equally nice with a decent bath, nice shower and Ren products. There was plenty of space in the bathroom, being as well-proportioned as the rest of the suite.

The hotel also houses two restaurants, the Harbourside, a fine dining venue and the Ha’Penny Bistro for more relaxed cuisine. The hotel also serves a high quality continental breakfast as part of the package.

The service at the Pier Hotel was top rate. The people are nice, helpful and knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. We would most definitely stay here again.
