Chalet Ruinart can be found tucked away in the grounds of the Kempinski Palace Engelberg, this charming, rustic haven beckons both weary travellers and discerning connoisseurs alike. In this alpine sanctuary, one can partake in a culinary journey that marries the robust flavours of Engelberg with the effervescence of Ruinart champagne, whilst being captivated by the breathtaking beauty of a snow-clad Engelberg. Our recent visit to this Alpine gem left us with memories as effervescent as the champagne we savoured.

As we embarked on our evening at Chalet Ruinart, we couldn't resist the temptation to commence with two fine glasses of Ruinart Rosé. The subtle notes of red fruit and floral elegance tantalised our senses, setting the stage for an evening of indulgence that lay ahead.

Our culinary expedition took an enchanting turn with the Engelberger Fondue, a regional specialty curated by the renowned Sälmi Töngi of the Gerschnialp. What elevated this fondue experience to celestial heights was the ingenious incorporation of Alp-Sbrinz cheese, transmuting it into a delectable Truffle & Champagne Fondue. This ambrosial blend of flavours, earthy truffle nuances harmonising with the effervescence of champagne, was a culinary delight.

“Chalet Ruinart is more than a dining destination; it's an expedition into the heart and soul of Switzerland.”

The presentation was equally captivating. The fondue was served in a traditional caquelon, exuding rustic charm. Beside it lay a basket of fondue bread, warm and inviting, the perfect vehicle for transporting the creamy goodness to our eager taste buds. Accompanying this feast were Roller potatoes, presented in a charming bag that encapsulated the essence of the Swiss Alps, a nod to tradition and simplicity. To balance the richness of the fondue, a platter of pickled vegetables provided a delightful crunch and a tangy counterpoint, elevating each bite to a symphony of flavours.

The setting, too, was an integral part of this unforgettable experience. The wooden tables and benches exuded warmth and authenticity, reminiscent of a mountain cabin where one might seek refuge after a long day on the slopes. Cozy furs were thoughtfully draped over chairs, beckoning guests to snuggle in and savour the moments. Through the windows, a panorama of the snow-covered Kurpark unfurled before us, a tableau of pristine beauty that transported us deeper into the heart of the Swiss Alps.

While Chalet Ruinart offers a gastronomic experience that could be cherished any time of the year, its true magic emerges during the winter months. The snowy landscape outside transforms this quaint chalet into a cocoon of Alpine enchantment. The combination of hearty fondue, sparkling Ruinart champagne, and the spectacle of the Swiss Alps at their wintry zenith creates an unparalleled synergy, it becomes an unforgettable journey into the heart of Switzerland's culinary and natural treasures.

The attentive staff at Chalet Ruinart added to the overall experience. Their knowledge of the cuisine was commendable, and their warm hospitality made us feel as though we were guests in a friend's home. It was evident that they took pride in curating an experience that was not just about food and drink but about creating cherished memories.

Chalet Ruinart is a culinary destination that offers an exceptional dining experience. The harmonious fusion of the Engelberger Fondue, Alp-Sbrinz cheese, and Ruinart champagne is a testament to the culinary artistry on display. The cozy and welcoming ambiance, with its rustic charm and stunning views, elevates the experience to a level of pure enchantment. Whether you're a lover of fine dining, an admirer of Swiss traditions, or simply seeking an unforgettable taste of the Swiss Alps, Chalet Ruinart is the destination of choice. A visit during the winter months, when the Kurpark is blanketed in snow, is an experience that will remain long after you've left, a testament to the magic of Kempinski Palace Engelberg. Chalet Ruinart is more than a dining destination; it's an expedition into the heart and soul of Switzerland, where culinary excellence and natural beauty unite to create unforgettable moments.
