Maison Talbooth can be found in Dedham near Colchester, which is wonderfully characterful town which begs to be explored. This hotel is set inside a beautiful country house that is really quite spectacular, complete with acres of perfectly landscaped grounds. Maison Talbooth is a part of Milsom Hotels, who offer a small portfolio of wonderful hotels based around East Anglia.

This was in fact not our first visit to Maison Talbooth; we’ve visited on numerous occasions beforehand, but find ourselves coming back again and again to get a taste of its country charm. When we arrived we marvelled at the hotel’s beauty once again, before being warmly greeted and checked in. We were soon on our way to our Deluxe Room, named Wordsworth.

Our room was very spacious and beautifully finished. Offering the perfect marriage of old and new, there is no shortage of wall art in the Wordsworth Room, which comes complete with antique framed paintings and all the amenities one would expect from a luxury hotel. The bedroom boasted a huge king sized bed draped in the most beautiful fabrics and scatter cushions. It was wonderfully comfortable. We enjoyed making use of the sofa in the room whilst sipping coffee and admiring the views over the grounds and surrounding countryside. Our room also had a small dining table and chairs and the lighting was perfect, with various lamps and overhead lighting available to create the perfect ambiance.

“Maison Talbooth truly excels at both comfort and style, and we can’t think of a more suitable location for a typically British country break.”

The bathroom was located on a lower level, down a few steps from the main bedroom. The bathroom itself consisted of a separate bath and walk-in shower, along with a toilet and his and hers wash basins. The bath was stunning, being sunk into its polished marble surround, which made the ideal place to truly unwind and relax in peace.

In terms of facilities, Maison Talbooth certainly isn’t lacking. A real treat is to visit is their Pool House, at which you will find an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub next to a burning log fire. There are also tennis courts available for those more active and a spa for those looking to pamper themselves. Located a short distance from the hotel itself is the hotel’s restaurant - Le Talbooth, which is easily accessible, with the hotel even chauffeuring you there and back as you please.

We are very pleased to say that this hotel is still as enjoyable as it always has been, and it still remains highly recommended by us. Maison Talbooth truly excels at both comfort and style, and we can’t think of a more suitable location for a typically British country break.
