While staying at The Slaughters Manor we experienced afternoon tea in one of their lounges. This provided us with wonderful views across the hotel’s lawn from the comfort of our sumptuous sofa in their library while we enjoyed a fine example of afternoon tea. We opted for their gluten-free afternoon tea, which felt fully indulgent and not lacking in taste. The three-tier stand was traditionally presented and was moorish in both appearance and taste. The surroundings at The Slaughters Manor means that the afternoon tea experience is free from any commercial trappings and everything is handmade to order. This ensures that taste and freshness comes high on the agenda and as a result we had a wonderful experience.

To begin, we enjoyed two glasses of Digby Leander Rose Sparkling Wine. A wine as elegant as our surroundings and a very fitting start to our afternoon. We then started off with a selection of finger sandwiches, which included ham, cucumber, and salmon. The sandwiches had been cut in uniform and each sandwich was delicious.

”We can’t speak highly enough of the afternoon tea at The Slaughters Manor.”

Next, we moved on to the plain and fruit scones with clotted cream, and strawberry preserve. It was evident the scones were homemade, you can’t beat the freshness and taste of a homemade scone, with a mountain of strawberry preserve and clotted cream balancing on top, an incredibly satisfying experience.

We then progressed onto the sweet treats, which included strawberry preserve, trifle, macaron, layer cake, battenberg cake, and lemon curd. A selection of treats to satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth, battenberg is a personal favourite and and was superb, as were all the treats.

For our selection of tea I chose the Jasmine Blossom, this is a floral tea with a lovely fragrance and sweet and smooth taste. My partner opted for the Peppermint tea, delivering a rich, refreshing peppermint flavor with some enticing spicy notes.

We can’t speak highly enough of the afternoon tea at The Slaughters Manor. The service was excellent, the presentation was a delightful, and it’s a must experience if you’re visiting The Slaughters Manor.
