Poggio Rosso is the fine dining restaurant located at the beautiful Borgo San Felice, Tuscany. This resort was a former village, which still retains a lot of its former features and charms - including a school, a church, and some former shops onsite.
It’s a great place to have a walk around – so we would recommend leaving some time to do so, if possible.
When we arrived at Poggio Rosso we were warmly greeted. The service was, in fact, charming throughout the meal – and I would like to note that the staff are a real credit to this restaurant.
“We simply can’t resist a restaurant with passion.”
After being shown to our table, we studied the wine list – not for too long, I might add – before opting for the natural choice: a bottle of their finest San Felice, Chianti Classico.
We made our menu choices, which consisted of two spaghetti dishes to start – the spaghetti with clams, and the spaghetti with veal and beef ragout.
For our main courses, we opted for the grilled beef tagliata, which came served with a San Felice garden salad; as well as the Fiorentina steak Chiamina, served with beans, in a tomato sauce.
The food was unfaultable. It was creative culinary at its best. Wonderful flavours, impeccable presentation... This is a restaurant that knows how to spoil its guests.
We were disappointed that we were unable to manage dessert, but left Poggio Rosso feeling more than satisfied, nonetheless.
We will certainly be looking to return when we’re next in the area. We simply can’t resist a restaurant with passion, and we saw that shine through at Poggio Rosso. The chefs are clearly expertly trained, and we were humbled by the faultless service. We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. The setting, gorgeous as it is, is merely an added bonus.
