Located in the beautiful area of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Hyatt Carmel Heights overlooks the ocean area known as the Big Sur and provides guests with some stunning views. This oceanfront retreat is just the ticket if you’re looking for a spot to relax away from the bustle of city life.

After a short check-in we were escorted to our residence on a golf buggy along with our luggage. Not an everyday form of travel, but a welcome surprise and a fun way to travel. Our residence was very spacious and included a lounge area, along with a separate bedroom area, a large bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and separate shower, along with a small kitchen. The lounge had a small sofa, arm chairs, and a log burner fire with a generous amount of wood supplied ready for consumption.

“Hyatt Carmel Heights provides a special retreat.”

The highlight for me was the huge outdoor terrace, complete with a sun lounger, and a table and chairs. Here we spent a lot of time enjoying the unspoilt views over the ocean and enjoying the warm Californian evenings. The views are so captivating that the hotel provides binoculars in the room to help you get the best possible view over the surrounding landscape.

There is also a small outdoor swimming pool, an indoor pool, and hot tubs for guests to enjoy. Inside the main building you will find a bar, a great way to start an evening before sitting down in the Pacific’s Edget restaurant where there are even more unrestricted views of the ocean and surrounding scenery to enjoy while dining. Staff are friendly throughout, the grounds are well-maintained, and there is lovely soft lighting around the complex at night.

Although we have to add that the resort feels a little dated in places, we still had an enjoyable experience and the location is very special indeed, and the views will never become dated.
