The Ferdinando restaurant, located at the Fonteverde hotel in Tuscany, really does boast a wonderful location. With views over the Tuscan landscape, it’s set in a very beautiful spot.
Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The restaurant itself offers a characteristic dining room, which is comfortable and traditional.
We ordered a bottle of the Chianti, Giacomo Mori, and sipped on glasses whilst perusing the menu. The menu itself offers a simple selection of authentic dishes, which we were looking forward to sampling.
“Although we weren’t blown away by the experience, it was certainly pleasant.”
To start, we opted for the Tuscan tortellini with butter and sage; as well as the Tuscan vegetable soup with poached eggs. The dishes were fresh, and full of flavour. We were pleased with our choices.
For our main courses, we chose the roasted organic chicken with stewed baby onions, as well as the glazed quail with straw wine, goat’s cheese, and raisins.
Again, the dishes were well prepared, and presented very nicely indeed.
Our waiter for the evening was charming, and explained the menu in more detail to us, answering any questions we had. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout.
We would certainly recommend Ferdinando if you’re ever in the area. The hotel also offers a wonderful terrace where you can sit and have a drink, or even enjoy a spot of lunch.
We would certainly return whilst in the area, and look forward to sitting on the terrace once more, admiring those wonderful views across Tuscany’s hilltops.
Although we weren’t blown away by the experience, it was certainly pleasant – the staff were friendly, and the food was good, not to mention the beautiful scenery.
