The Sir Albert Hotel in Amsterdam is new to the area and was converted from a disused diamond factory facing one of the city’s famous canals. In keeping with its heritage, the hotel has kept its large windows and high ceilings from its days as a factory, it still manages to maintain an elegance and feeling of luxury produced by its stylish refurbishment.

Although not in the centre of Amsterdam, the hotel is in an ideal location for those wanting to stay in a slightly quieter area whilst still being within walking distance of the centre. The hotel was impressive from the outset, with the lobby lined with cow hide chairs and a lounge filled with scattered books.

“We were impressed by the lovely staff, who made our stay enjoyable from the outset.”

During our stay we experienced a Sir deluxe room. Our room was spacious and well designed. The room included a comfortable king size bed with goose down duvets, a wonderful rainforest high power shower and complimentary WiFi. The design was contemporary but, like the rest of the hotel, didn’t take away from the character of the building.

Our deluxe, open plan room also included an exclusively designed Illy espresso machine, a Sir Albert’s goody box and Zenology mandarin green tea toiletries; everything we needed for our stay. We were also impressed by the size of the bathroom area, which was equally well designed.

The hotel also provides a spa, which provides treatments and complimentary products, and access to the impressive Izakaya restaurant. Serving Japanese cuisine throughout the day, Izakaya mirrors the feel of the hotel, providing traditional cuisine with modern touches. We were impressed by the lovely staff, who made our stay enjoyable from the outset.
