Located inside the B2 Boutique Hotel in Zurich is their house restaurant, the Wine Library. There are 33,000 books scattered around, giving the restaurant a grand sense of history, not to mention a unique and interesting look.
The Wine Library is a great place for early evening drinks and tapas. As well as tables and chairs for dining, there is an area with comfy chairs for a more relaxed experience. There are small tables made from books stacked up, and a bar area with a lovely dark wood surround.
We ordered a bottle of local Compleo Cuvee Noir 2011, Diolinoir, Cornalin, a wonderful Swiss wine with a deep chocolate flavour.
"The service was friendly, and the restaurant is a joy."
We started by ordering a cheese plate to share. It's somewhat of a signature offering of the Wine Library, we enjoyed jersey Blue, Mountain Spruce and Bachtelstone, accompanied by Breads, Muesli and Chutney. The combination of wine and cheese is simply divine, it was most enjoyable and a great start to our evening.
For our main dishes we ordered the Pumpkin Ravioli with Cherry Tomatoes and Parmesan. A superb blend of flavours packed in large ravioli pieces, very enjoyable. We also had the Beef Burger with Gruyere Cheese served with a small salad, prepared with tender and flavoursome beef. Both dishes were delicious, and being surrounded by such charming furniture made our experience even more enjoyable.
To finish, we shared a Homemade Cheese Cake, New York Style. I love sampling homemade foods as you always get something a little different, and the cheesecake was delicious. The service was friendly, and the restaurant is a joy.
