Having visited Mash in London, we were keen to compare the Copenhagen restaurant. We are big fans of the London Mash - where we believe the steak is on par with some of the best around - so it was with great anticipation that we entered the restaurant during our visit to Denmark.
Upon arrival, we were shown to our table, which was located at the back of the restaurant. After a short walk through the buzzy bar, we were shown to our very comfortable booth style table.
“Everything from the service to the food and wine was just brilliant.”
The menu at Mash takes a traditional form, however, somewhat outside of the norm is the huge glass refrigerator, where guests are introduced to the cuts of beef, complete with a detailed description as to where they came from and have been dried. It’s very interesting indeed.
To start, we opted for the linguine with tiger prawns, tomato and Chili; as well as the Mash tartare.
For our main courses, we chose the 300g American, Greater Omaha N.Y strip, with pepper sauce; and the 300g Danish dry aged rib eye, with a garlic and thyme jus.
As side dishes, we opted to try the macaroni and cheese, as well as the chili fries.
To drink, we enjoyed a bottle of the 2011 Chianti Classico, “Berardenga”, Felsina - which was the perfect accompaniment. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, however it looked beautiful coming out of the kitchen; so we would advise saving some room if you can!
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Copenhagen Mash, and would certainly return. We’re pleased to say that it met all the expectations that the London Mash had instilled in us; everything from the service to the food and wine was just brilliant. We would definitely recommend that you give this restaurant a try if you’re ever in the area.
