Les Caroubiers, located inside the golf club house of the Terre Blanche resort. The surroundings of this restaurant are just lovely, with panoramic views of the resort's golf course.
Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. We chose two glasses of the local Château Minuty Blanc et Or 2012, which we enjoyed whilst perusing the menus and admiring the view.
One qualm we did have, was that the waitress took our menus before returning to take our order - something we have not witnessed before.
“Great attention to detail was evident in terms of the dishes ingredients and flavour combinations.”
To start, we opted for the creamy pumpkin soup with Chantilly cream, Espelette pepper and crushed hazelnuts, which added a gorgeous nutty flavour and texture; as well as the smoked salmon served with blinis and light whipped cream with chives. Having been slightly dubious about the quality of the food initially, the taste and presentation of our starters soon put my mind at ease. They were beautiful.
We waited eagerly for our main courses, which consisted of roasted sea bass fillet with olive oil Emulsion, and risotto with Nice country vegetables; and the roasted chicken breast fillet with pan sautéed seasonal mushrooms and polenta. Again, the dishes were lovely - great attention to detail was evident in terms of the dishes ingredients and flavour combinations. We were very impressed.
We were both satiated and full from the first two courses, and thus, did not opt to try dessert.
We would certainly return to Les Caroubiers, we had a good experience, and would recommend it to anyone in the area.
