The Terrazza restaurant at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo is set overlooking the stunning Lake Como. Sitting on the restaurant terrace, enjoying the unspoilt views, we had the feeling that we were somewhere very special. The atmosphere is incredible.
To start, we had the penne pasta with spinach and prawns, which was perfect. Being in Italy, you always have high hopes for pasta dishes, and this did not disappoint. Both the pasta and the prawns were cooked expertly, with the spinach also perfectly wilted, without being overcooked.

For our main courses, we opted for the Chateaubriand salsa béarnaise for two, which was served with a great selection of French fries, cauliflower, carrots and courgette. Again, everything was cooked to perfection and we were very impressed with the Chef - Osvaldo Presazzi - whose Italian roots reflect his passion for food.
Presazzi’s philosophy for the restaurant includes using local produce, incorporating lakeside ingredients. This extends the experience of the view of Lake Como to your plate; and we were suitably impressed with the creativity and freshness of the dishes.
La Terrazza also boasts an excellent wine list, and we thoroughly enjoyed a bottle of the Conte Della Vipera Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon with our meal.
The service was very attentive, however we do think that our waiter should be reminded of the etiquette of addressing the lady first and foremost - a fairly large oversight on the restaurant’s behalf in our opinion.
That being said, we still enjoyed our experience, and it was a great extension of the hotel. Being one of the best views over Lake Como, it was difficult to be disappointed, and certainly with the food, we were not. However, etiquette and courtesy probably could be improved at La Terrazza, and perhaps, we visited on an off day.
Nevertheless, we would recommend this restaurant as a great place to dine for authentic Italian food full of fresh, local ingredients, with a stunning setting and incomparable views.
