Coombe Abbey can be found in the heart of Warwickshire, which is conveniently situated a few miles off the M6. First impressions are always important, and Coombe Abbey ticks all the boxes for impressive first impressions. It was built in the 12th century, and has been meticulously restored and maintained to capture all of the original beauty and mystery. It's hard to do it justice by describing it and is definitely something to be seen in person.

Walking into the reception area felt like we were entering a church. The echo of footsteps, and confession boxes in the lobby are reminders that you are in a historic building. There lots of intriguing nooks and crannies to explore as you walk around, we found ourselves constantly stopping off and having a drink or just taking in the ambience.

"It's a hotel with unique charm and character."

Our split level suite was in one of the hotel's courtyard buildings, which is only a short walk from reception. There are 119 rooms in total in the Abbey, and our suite was named 'Capability Brown' named after Lancelot Brown, the famous English landscape gardener. There was a sumptuous four poster bed which was certainly as comfortable as it was grand. The room also hosted a mezzanine level with a roll top bath, again, very grand in appearance. The standard of the suite and the facilities were outstanding.

It's worth mentioning that Coombe Abbey is a popular venue for weddings in the summer, and hosts medieval banquets at different dates throughout the year. So it's advisable to check their website ahead of booking if you want to either be involved, or avoid large parties and events.

Coombe Abbey is also home to the Garden Room Restaurant which holds an ambient atmosphere in casual surroundings.

This really needs to be visited in person, it's more than just a hotel - it's a hotel with a unique rare character.
