There are hotels that impress you on arrival, and then there are those that continue to surprise and delight you long after you have checked in. Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver firmly belongs in the latter category. Blending historic grandeur with contemporary luxury, impeccable service and an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and genuinely welcoming, this remarkable property is everything we love about exceptional hospitality. From its enviable location in the heart of downtown Vancouver to its beautifully considered interiors, outstanding facilities and wonderful team, our experience was thoroughly memorable from beginning to end.

The hotel's location is difficult to fault. Situated on West Georgia Street, directly opposite the Vancouver Art Gallery and within easy walking distance of many of the city's best shopping, restaurants and cultural attractions, it provides an excellent base for exploring Vancouver. Whether you are spending the afternoon browsing the boutiques of Alberni Street, discovering the city's waterfront or simply enjoying the energy of downtown, everything feels conveniently within reach. Despite its central position, however, the hotel offers a welcome sense of calm, creating a luxurious retreat from the pace of the city outside.

One of the first things that captures your attention is the interior design. Originally opened in 1927, Hotel Georgia has a fascinating history, and the restoration and transformation into Rosewood Hotel Georgia have preserved that sense of heritage while introducing a level of contemporary refinement that feels entirely appropriate for a modern luxury hotel.

The interiors are rich in character, with elegant architectural details, beautiful finishes, carefully selected furnishings and lighting that creates a wonderfully warm atmosphere. Rather than feeling overly formal or designed purely to impress, the spaces have a natural sense of sophistication. There is a genuine appreciation for craftsmanship and detail throughout, from the public areas to the quieter corners where you can pause and take everything in.

What makes the experience particularly special is that the grandeur never feels intimidating. The hotel manages to strike that difficult balance between timeless luxury and genuine comfort, allowing guests to feel completely at ease in their surroundings.

The service deserves equal recognition. At every turn, the staff were friendly, attentive and genuinely welcoming. Whether arriving at the entrance, moving through the public spaces or interacting with the team during our stay, we consistently encountered people who seemed genuinely pleased to see us. There is a warmth to the hospitality here that makes a real difference, elevating the experience beyond beautiful surroundings and luxurious amenities.

    "Historic Character Meets Contemporary Elegance"

As we often say, “True luxury is not simply about what surrounds you, but how you feel while you are there.” Rosewood Hotel Georgia understands this exceptionally well. The service feels natural rather than rehearsed, with thoughtful interactions that make you feel valued without ever becoming intrusive.

The hotel's wellness facilities provide another excellent reason to stay. The Sense, A Rosewood Spa offers a tranquil environment in which to unwind, with treatments designed to encourage relaxation and restoration. It provides a welcome contrast to the energy of downtown Vancouver, making it easy to set aside some time for yourself during a busy itinerary.

The indoor saltwater swimming pool is another highlight. Beautifully presented and inviting, it offers a peaceful space to swim or simply relax away from the city. The surrounding environment feels calm and considered, making the pool an appealing part of the overall experience rather than simply an additional hotel amenity.

For those who prefer to maintain their fitness routine while travelling, the fitness facilities are equally valuable. Having access to a well-equipped space allows guests to stay active without compromising on the rest and relaxation that a luxury hotel should provide.

Together, these facilities create a well-rounded wellness offering that complements the hotel's wider appeal, whether you are visiting Vancouver for business, a romantic escape or a longer leisure stay.

We stayed in one of the hotel's One Bedroom Courtyard View Suites, which provided a wonderful retreat in the heart of downtown Vancouver. One of the pleasures of this room category is the added sense of space and separation, creating an experience that feels closer to a beautifully appointed private residence than a conventional hotel room.

The separate bedroom and living area make a noticeable difference, particularly if you are staying for several nights. There is room to properly unwind, enjoy a quiet morning or relax with a drink before heading out for dinner, without feeling confined to a single hotel room. The layout also lends itself well to slower mornings and leisurely evenings, adding to the feeling of comfort that runs throughout the property.

As with the rest of Rosewood Hotel Georgia, the interiors strike a lovely balance between classic elegance and contemporary refinement. The furnishings, finishes and carefully considered lighting contribute to an atmosphere that feels sophisticated yet inviting, with a residential quality that makes it easy to settle in. Rather than relying on excessive decoration, the suite's appeal lies in its understated luxury, thoughtful details and the sense of calm it provides after a busy day exploring Vancouver.

The courtyard view offers a different perspective from the city's bustling streets, reinforcing the feeling of having a peaceful sanctuary to return to. Combined with the additional living space, it makes this suite an appealing choice for guests who value privacy and a little more room to relax.

Another thoughtful touch that really stood out to us was the little details left in the room both on arrival and throughout our stay. We arrived to a curated cheese plate and a bottle of red, which helped us unwind after a long day of travelling. Each evening, we were treated to fresh biscuits before bed, the perfect accompaniment to a calming cup of camomile tea. Then, following the evening turndown service, the team left chocolates for us to enjoy, a lovely finishing touch that added an extra sense of indulgence to returning to the room at the end of the day. These small gestures may seem simple, but they speak volumes about the attention to detail and genuine hospitality that make Rosewood Hotel Georgia such a pleasure to stay in.

For us, it was another example of how Rosewood Hotel Georgia gets the details right, creating accommodation that feels genuinely special without ever losing sight of the comfort and warmth that should define a luxury hotel.

One of the pleasures of staying at Rosewood Hotel Georgia is having several distinctive places to eat, drink and socialise without needing to leave the property.

The Lobby Lounge is an elegant setting for a cocktail, afternoon drink or relaxed meeting. With its inviting atmosphere and classic hotel-bar appeal, it is an excellent place to pause and soak up the character of the hotel. The service is consistent with the wider experience, making it a natural choice whether you are starting your evening or simply looking for somewhere comfortable to unwind.

For something with a little more intrigue, the hotel's speakeasy-style bar offers a different atmosphere, with a more intimate setting and a focus on expertly prepared drinks. It is an appealing option for those who enjoy discovering a hidden-feeling cocktail spot within a luxury hotel. The contrast between the polished public spaces and the more intimate bar environment adds another dimension to the property's personality.

Reflections, the hotel's outdoor restaurant and lounge, provides yet another reason to linger. Its terrace setting offers a relaxed alternative to the more formal surroundings elsewhere in the hotel, making it particularly appealing for drinks, lighter dining and socialising when the weather allows. It is a lovely space in which to enjoy Vancouver's atmosphere while remaining within the hotel's elegant surroundings.

Each venue has its own character, and we will be sharing more detailed thoughts in our individual reviews of the Lobby Lounge, the speakeasy bar and Reflections for anyone wanting to explore these experiences in greater depth.

We have always loved the Rosewood brand, particularly its ability to create hotels that feel individual to their destination while maintaining a consistent commitment to luxury, design and personal service. Rosewood Hotel Georgia certainly lives up to that reputation.

What impressed us most was not simply one particular feature, but the way everything came together. The historic architecture, beautiful interiors, comfortable accommodation, excellent wellness facilities and varied dining and drinking options all contribute to a memorable stay. Yet it is the people who make the experience truly special.

Rosewood Hotel Georgia delivers on all these fronts. It feels refined without being pretentious, welcoming without compromising on sophistication, and luxurious without losing sight of what makes a hotel enjoyable to stay in.

For anyone visiting Vancouver and looking for a property that combines an excellent central location with historic character, beautiful interiors and genuinely warm service, this is a hotel we would happily recommend.

We left with a real appreciation for what the team has created here and a renewed admiration for the Rosewood brand. Hotel Georgia does more than meet expectations; it delivers wholeheartedly on the promise of its name.
