Ristorante Locanda Del Borgo can be found inside the Aquapetra Resort & Spa. The resort has been restored in recent years, and the result is a beautifully designed dining area spread over four areas, with a conservatory and bar area.
The kitchen is headed up by Michelin starred chef, Luciano Villani, he and his team have created a diverse menu consisting of traditional and modern dishes, with locally sourced, seasonal produce they had us interested from the moment we opened the menu.
We decided to begin our evening with a couple of cocktails, I opted for a classic Negroni, which saw sweet red Vermouth, Campari and Bombay gin, garnished with fresh orange peel, a delicious kick of flavours which certainly didn’t disappoint. My partner decided on their espresso martini, which was saw Absolut vodka, espresso coffee, coffee liqueur, and sugar syrup. We were most impressed with the craftsmanship and presentation of their cocktails and could have easily sampled more.
“Each and every dish that came from the kitchen was a pleasure to experience.”
To begin our dining experience, I was taken by the wild boar ragu complete with Fusilloni pasta. A simple dish, but rich in flavour and very delicious. My partner opted for their spaghetti with tomatoes and basil, both dishes were beautifully presented and were a superb representation of fine Italian cuisine.
For our main courses, I decided to sample their pork dish, which was served with potato terrine and a red pepper sauce. The terrine had the perfect texture, it was well seasoned, and delivered on flavour. My partner went for the wild cockerel, which was served with black olives, potatoes, and tomato chutney. She was equally as impressed with her choice, both dishes had superb presentation with the taste to match.
Moving on to dessert we both decided to complete our dining experience with a selection of sorbet. We were treated to apple, lemon, raspberry, vanilla, and pineapple, each flavour was a joy to taste, and a dessert we would happily choose again.
To accompany our meal, we shared a bottle of 2013 Antonio Caggiano Vigna Macchia dei Goti, Taurasi DOCG, Italy, a full-bodied red with an intense and complex arrangement of fruits, vanilla, and liquorice.
We must say, we left more than impressed with our experience at Ristorante Locanda Del Borgo. The dining area is wonderfully laid out, and each and every dish that came from the kitchen was a pleasure to experience.
