The New York Grill can be found inside the Radisson Hotel at Stansted Airport, the New York Grill specialises in serving steaks. The decor is minimal, the surroundings are intimate, and once the lights dim and the atmosphere lifts you can easily forget you’re dining a few meters away from Stansted Airports. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and out of the two restaurants in the Radisson, the New York Grill is the place to go to kick start your getaway and give you an appetite for the journey ahead.

To begin, I ordered the Grilled Halloumi, with baby plum tomatoes, cucumber, red onions, and black olives. A lovely Mediterranean-style starter, the texture of the halloumi was perfect. My partner ordered the Smoked Salmon, this was served with East Coast crab, avruga, and mustard leaves. This dish was wonderfullyh presented, the salmon was tender and had the robust flavour of fresh, wild salmon, while the avruga perfectly completes the flavours.

“The New York Grill have earned the right to be called a restaurant that specialises in steaks.”

For my main course, after browsing their range of tempting steak options I decided on a 8oz Fillet, this was served with a slow baked beef tomato, pan fried herb mushrooms, watercress, fries, completed with a mighty fine peppercorn sauce. The presentation of the dish was excellent and had the taste to match, the steak was skillfully prepared and was a joy to finish. My partner ordered the 10oz Rib-Eye Steak, also served with a slow baked beef tomato, pan fried herb mushrooms, watercress, and fries. With this steak we opted for a smoked garlic and parsley sauce which was a choice we were most happy with. We added sides of champ potatoes, as well as buttered broccolini and savoy cabbage to complete our main course.

To drink, we ordered a bottle of 2013, Château de Gardegan, Bordeaux, France. A delicious meat wine with flavours of plum and forest fruits, with subtle spicy tones.

The New York Grill have earned the right to be called a restaurant that specialises in steaks. We couldn’t fault our dishes in any way, combined with the service, and the low-level lighting provided the scene to enjoy a fine meal away from the bustle of Stansted Airport, we’ll be stopping by again pre-flight for sure.
