Located in the Pig in the Wall hotel, the Deli makes up part of the shared reception area. It's open fire place and large leather seating make for an instantly warm atmosphere. The decor is largely in keeping with the rest of the hotel. We were instantly attracted to the 'olde world' charm.
When one thinks of a 'Deli' their first impressions are of a perhaps limited menu, however things are very different here.
We began our meal with the honey mustard chipolatas, part of the cute sounding 'Piggy Bites' menu which made for a unusual but appetising starter.
"The Deli serves fresh organic and healthy food sourced locally"
The Pig's Garlic and Thyme sausage roll was a flavourful take on the traditional snack, served with a fresh green salad. The homemade bacon with tomato and pesto quiche was full of flavour and was most enjoyable.
My partner sampled the butternut, goats cheese and thyme quiche. we both found our meals to have a dose fresh country wholesomeness.
Surprisingly there was space for a hearty dessert. The carrot-bread pudding and lemon drizzle cake was served up with Dorset clotted cream. We enjoyed our meal with a bottle of Pinot Noir Sol Y Sombre Reserve, La Playa, Central Valley, Chile 201. The wine along with the sweet dishes left us with fond memories of the Deli at the Pig in the Wall.
