    Slimbridge Wetland Centre Review

    Slimbridge Wetland Centre Review

Slimbridge Wetland is located in Gloucestershire and is a great place to visit for any wildlife lover. There is something to enjoy for the whole family here, from young children to adults. Slimbridge specialises in showcasing wetland wildlife and provides an up close and personal experience for visitors.

If you’re visiting with children we recommend checking out if they are putting on any special events in the school holidays. Slimbridge do run special events throughout the year for children, so alternatively if you’re not accompanied by children pick a weekday if you want a quieter experience.

You can purchase seed to feed the birds as you’re walking around the park. If you’re lucky you’ll have swans eating out of the palm of your hand which isn’t something you will get to experience at many parks so we recommend taking advantage of this. There is also a large flamboyance of flamingos, it’s amazing to see the sea of colour they provide in person. They are terrific animals to experience up close, as are many of the birds at the park.

“A fun day out for the whole family.”

There is a nature reserve sitting on the banks of the Severn estuary so you can often spot rare species. There are various kiosks and cafes where you can relax and have a coffee or some light bites. As well as a restaurant if you want to have a full meal.

There is plenty to do at Slimbridge so we recommend arriving early if you want to fit in as much as possible into one day. If the weather is good you can take some picnic food and eat at one of the benches, but beware of hungry beaks from some of the residents of the wetlands helping themselves to your lunch.

It’s a fun day out for the whole family. Certainly worth the day trip, we’re sure you will have a great time.
