The George Townhouse can be found in the heart of the quaint, Cotswold market town of Shipston-on-Stour. it’s essentially a pub with rooms, which falls under the Brakspear group of hotels. The George Townhouse is a three story 18th century townhouse that sits in the centre of the town, and commands the eye to its stature.

The décor throughout The George Townhouse is crisp and clean, yet maintains a warmth that consistently reminds you that you are residing in a classic country inn. Having been recently refurbished to a high standard, this hotel offers 15 guest rooms, which have been transformed into modern luxury bedrooms.

During our stay, we experienced a deluxe room. Ours was a beautiful room featuring wonderfully high ceilings and bay windows, which allowed for a lot of light and a great sense of space; whilst somehow offering a sense of cosiness at the same time. The bathroom was also more than ample, with its deep roll top bath, twin basins and separate shower. These are the sort of en-suite facilities could easily rival a luxury spa hotel, and make you want to while away your time soaking in the tub.

“Foodies will love The George Townhouse and it's gastro pub experience”

Foodies will love George Townhouse and it's gastro pub experience, it has become a dining destination in its own right, and eating here is a large part of the experience. The food in the restaurant is locally sourced, and the quality of the ingredients really shines in each dish served here.

The team of friendly staff at The George Townhouse all live in the local area, which makes the restaurant and bar a great haunt for locals; yet remains welcoming, allowing for a great mix of customers from across the country. The team are all very welcoming and very good at what they do – they truly make you feel at home.

We would thoroughly recommend a stay at The George Townhouse to anyone looking to explore the Cotswolds, or to indulge in a relaxing foodie escape. We will certainly look forward to returning to this beautiful town and gorgeous boutique hotel.
