The Bound restaurant in Paris is another chic destination from George V Entertainment. This company is opening places all over, all beginning with the letter ’B,’ including the Buddha Bar which we reviewed a little while ago.
Bound is now what used to be Barfly, just off the Champs Elysees. It is, like the others in the chain, unashamedly chic. The interior combines cutting edge modernity with luxury, making it definitely a place for beautiful people to hang out.
We decided to eat there when we were in town to see what all the fuss was about. Reviews had been mixed, so we wanted to see for ourselves.
The bar is magnificent, and is the centrepiece of the room. The lighting is excellent, as is the music. This seems more a bar nightspot than restaurant, but not so much as to make it uncomfortable to eat.
We started with cocktails, a classic Bellini and a Molokini to be exact. Both tasted great. I’m no mixologist but I know my cocktails, and these were good.
Our starters were sushi, as it’s a signature of The Bound. We have California Maki and Maki Crevette Tempur. Both were freshly prepared, the fish tasted delightful and were a great way to begin a meal.
Our main course comprised cote de veau tradtition and blanc de poulet. The veau, or veal, was delicious. It was moist, tender, rich and still tasted gamey, even with the other flavours. The chicken wasn’t so good though. It was bland, although well cooked and juicy, it just didn’t taste of much.
Dessert was coupe new yorkaise and salade fraicheur figues. The coupe was a delight to eat. It finished off the meal perfectly and provided a well-rounded finish to our dinner. The fig salad was light, fresh and very tasty. The figs were fresh, juicy and again, a perfect finish to a good meal.
Overall, our experience at The Bound was a positive one. The service was good, the staff polite, the cocktails were excellent the food wasn’t bad either. I can heartily recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting a chic Parisian experience.
