The afternoon tea at Close House was presented as something a little more special than the typical tea. The location is perfect for a refined selection of afternoon treats.

We had the choice of being seated in the lavish Argent D’or or the lounge area and chose to be seated in the lounge. This gave us to opportunity to enjoy our tea in front of the roaring fire.

Our champagne afternoon tea began with a glass of Moet & Chandon, which was closely followed by an enticing selection of finger sandwiches. These included coronation chicken, sugar baked ham, sweet cured smoked salmon and cucumber and cream cheese. The bread was particularly note worthy due to its freshly baked taste.

“Afternoon tea at Close House hotel is a must.”

Next, we were served freshly baked plain and fruit scones, still warm from the oven and served with Northumberland clotted cream and preserves. The scones were light and fluffy and followed perfectly by the delicious selection of desserts. We sampled a huge selection including banoffee sundae, lemon meringue pie, raspberry macaroon and a fresh cream chocolate éclair.

Afternoon tea at Close House hotel is a must and we can’t recommend it enough to future guests of this enchanting hotel.
