Marco Pierre White Newcastle is situated on the ground floor of the Hotel Indigo Newcastle. The 100-seater restaurant is a recent addition to the hotel and is serving locally sourced ingredients within a busy but intimate setting.

The restaurant design is simple but elegant, allowing diners to enjoy their meal without the distraction of excessive décor or furnishings. We sat down to begin our meal with a bottle of rare Vineyards Malbec, France, which had a smooth and mellow flavour.

To begin our meal, both my partner and myself enjoyed the Pumpkin Soup starter, topped with Parmesan cheese. Although a simple dish, it was very well executed, well presented and the Parmesan didn’t mask the flavour of the pumpkin, which shone through well.

“We were highly impressed with all the dishes served at MPW Newcastle.“

For my main dish I enjoyed the 10oz Sirloin steak, while my partner enjoyed the 80z fillet steak. Both dishes reflected the quality of the meat, aged for 28 days, and both steaks were served medium rare. The dishes were served with a garnish of grilled beef tomato, onion rings and real chips served in beef dripping. The chips were very well prepared and the beef dripping added and extra depth of flavour. Both dishes were beautifully presented and the quality of the cooking matched the quality of the local ingredients. We also sampled the sides of creamed potato and green beans, both of which were the perfect accompaniment to our meals.

For dessert we shared a sticky toffee pudding with a toffee sauce. Although a simple and traditional dessert, the sticky toffee pudding was extremely delicious.

We were highly impressed with all the dishes served at MPW Newcastle.
