The Living Room in the W Hotel, South Beach, is designed to feel like an innovative take on the traditional living room. Luxurious and stylish, it is the perfect place within which to enjoy some wonderful cocktails.

The Living Room uses fresh and exotic ingredients to create impressive infusions using molecular mixology and other innovative techniques, ensuring that every cocktail they serve is more than a little bit special. With the help of cocktail guru Scott Beattie, the bar has become well known for its atmosphere, stylish charm and endless search for perfection.

On our visit to the bar we sampled four of their famous cocktails. The first, Hemingway Daiquiri, featured aged rum, Agricole Blanc, fresh lime and grapefruit juice, simple syrup and a dash of angostura bitters. This cocktail had an almost spicy edge to it but the warmth of the rum made it smooth and thoroughly enjoyable.

The second cocktail we sampled was the Cucumber Collins. This included cucumber vodka, lemon and yuzu juice, seltzer and fresh and pickled cucumber slices. The flavour of the cucumber was very prominent in this cocktail and it was extremely refreshing. We followed this with a Moroccan Night cocktail featuring mandarin orange blossom vodka, lime juice, cardamom simple syrup and pomegranate juice. As refreshing as the one before it, this cocktail was very fruity with a slight warmth from the cardamom, perfect for a warm evening.

“The bar has become well known for its atmosphere, stylish charm and endless search for perfection.”

For our final cocktail we sampled the Waverly Place Echo. Including mandarin vodka, lemon juice, five spice honey syrup, fresh mandarin slices and pomegranate seeds, this was another fruity but warm cocktail and the five spice honey syrup really brought out the flavour of the mandarin.

While sipping cocktails at the Living Room, we also sampled a margherita pizzette from their menu, which was cooked fresh with Sam marzano tomatoes, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese. This was a delightful accompaniment to our cocktails and was blessed with the same fresh ingredients.

The bar also has it’s own cocktail concept that can make sure even the fussiest of customers are pleased with their drink. Known as the bartenders choice menu, the bar has a menu of fresh ingredients, including bitter ingredients, herbs & spices and fruits & vegetables, and spirits from which customers can choose their favourite. The bar team then use these ingredients to create your perfect cocktail, making sure everyone is able to appreciate the quality of the bar’s ingredients.
