The Melba Restaurant can be found inside The Langham Hotel, overlooking the Yarra River on the Southbank of Melbourne. The scene is set for a wonderful experience, and if you're looking for a buffet with a vast range of options you will not be disappointed. The environment is a little hectic due to the restaurant being a buffet and guests having to serve themselves.

If you're looking for a luxury dining experience then Melba will not be for you. However, if you want a casual evening experience sampling foods from around the world, such as; Italian, Japanese and Indian this is the place to be. The quality of the food is rather impressive considering it's a buffet, there are various stations where dishes are being prepared, and there is a huge cabinet full of desserts so save some space for this.

We sampled various dishes from the buffet and some of the highlights include: King Prawns and Blue Swimmer Crab from the Seafood counter. The Prawns were fresh and well prepared, there was a good selection of Seafood and plenty of options to start the evening off. From the Sushi and Sashimi counter we sampled Tuna Sashimi and Bean Curd Inari which was absolutely delicious.

"It was fun and enjoyable sampling foods from so many different cuisines."

From the Spice Kitchen we sampled Sheesh Lamb Kebab, Aubergine Masala, Panner Mattar and Lamb Rogan Josh. Two very well prepared dishes. The masala was smooth and full of flavour, and the Lamb Rogan Josh was a delight. Moving on to the carving station we tried a serving of Prime Rib of Lamb and Black Angus Beef. The meats are carved off the bone in front of you and tasted delicious.

Next we tried the Peri Peri Prawn and Portuguese Marinated Chicken from the Char Grill counter. The Peri Peri had the authentic taste you would expect, it left a little kick on the palate. We moved on and tried the Baby Beetroot with aged Balsamic and Organic Couscous and Puy Lentils from the salad counter. A simple but well executed salad, we can't find a bad word to say about the dish, or any of the other dishes throughout the evening.

We enjoyed a bottle of Bleasdale, Mulberry Tree, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012 throughout the evening and had a wonderful experience. I have to remind you that it is a buffet, but it's a very good buffet. It was fun and enjoyable sampling foods from so many different cuisines.
