The Sofitel Marseille is located in the heart of this popular harbour city and provides a combination of traditional and contemporary design that’s good enough to rival any other five star hotel. Surrounded by historical attractions, the hotel is prime position for those wishing to take in the local culture or even just the harbour view.

The lobby was very modern but remained very luxurious, providing that five star feeling from the moment we entered. The rest of the hotel was equally impressive, with the So Spa one of the highlights. Offering views over Vieux Port, the spa provides beauty treatments, massages, a steam room and a sauna. The hotel also provides ample fitness equipment, including a gym and a state of the art aqua bike, which is certainly a fun way to keep fit.

Elsewhere in the hotel, the contemporary theme continued, with Les Trois Forts restaurant and Le Carre bar providing guests and locals alike with modern and luxury dining options throughout the day and evening.

“The hotel is prime position for those wishing to take in the local culture.”

During our stay at the Sofitel Marseille, we were in one of the hotels luxury rooms. The room itself was modern, sleek and of a good size, but the highlight was certainly the large private terrace area offering stunning views over the harbour. Complete with sun loungers, tables and chairs, it was the perfect way to enjoy the sunrise and the stunning views in peace and quiet.

The room also benefitted from a large and contemporary bathroom with bathtub and shower, as well as a very comfortable queen size bed. With internet access, a minibar and a large television, the luxury room was a wonderful place to wake up, particularly in light of the beautiful views.

The hotel’s location makes it the perfect base from which to enjoy this beautiful harbour city. Within only a few minutes of the harbour itself, Sofitel Marseille is right in the heart of the seaside bustle that guests will be looking for in this busy but traditional city.
