The Sofitel hotel in Marrakech is a beautiful palace hotel amidst traditional Moroccan streets. Split into two sections, the hotel offers both historical features and the new spa and lounge area, focussing on modern spa facilities and wellbeing treatments. The hotel combines the influences of France and Morocco throughout to create a stylish but traditional experience for guests.

The hotel is situated close to the Red City and has a great location surrounded by boutique shops and popular brands. The hotel is also only ten minutes from the main square in Marrakech. The exterior of the hotel is focussed on a traditional Moroccan style. Grand and elegant, you are summoned inside by its enchanting design.

The interior of the hotel is just as wonderful and also based around traditional Morocco but with a modern twist. Large drapes hang from the ceiling and white Moroccan furniture gives a contemporary style to the lobby area. The style is mirrored throughout the hotel which offers guests a taste of Morocco without having to leave the building.

The hotel boasts a number of restaurants including L’Orangerie serving gourmet Moroccan and French cuisine, So Good serving traditional Moroccan cuisine, Le Jardin serving an international menu and L’Oasis which provides thematic cuisine. All of the restaurants are designed with the theme in mind and encourage a Moroccan atmosphere among guests.

The hotel also provides guests with a range of bars. Following with the Moroccan tradition of the hotel, the bars provide Moroccan tea complete with Moroccan pastries and French confectionary. The bars also transform and provide a range of beverages for guests to enjoy, whether they’re out on the town or appreciating a quiet night in.

“Every staff member greeted us with a smile and they went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating.”

The hotel spa is very popular and a highlight of the hotel. So Spa is a French inspired spa and wellbeing facility providing cosmetology and spa treatments, as well as luxurious swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna for guests to enjoy at their leisure. The spa centre also includes a gym. The gym service includes use of the latest equipment as well as space for pilates and a personal trainer on hand to create a training plan for you.

We stayed in the older part of the hotel in a prestige suite. Complete with balcony and wonderful views, our suite provided a taste of Morocco and was designed in a traditional style. The lounge area features a comfortable sofa with Moroccan style cushions and the marble bathroom came complete with a large bathtub. The bedroom was beautifully designed and reflected the Moroccan views that we enjoyed from our suite. The bed was comfortable and dressed in a traditional Moroccan style.

Our room also contained a range of added extras from Hermes. As well as providing a Bose sound system, the room was also complete with WiFi and air conditioning. These extra touches made our room a beautiful home from home experience.

The staff at the Sofitel Marrakech were a real highlight on our visit to the hotel. Every staff member greeted us with a smile and went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. They were dressed in traditional Moroccan clothing, adding to the charm of this hotel. Friendly and polite, the staff at the hotel really did the Sofitel Hotel Group justice.
