If you’re in Hollywood, there’s one place that’s well worth a visit: the Paramount Pictures Studio Tour. Although we’re not normally ones for doing the obvious in a city, since it’s Hollywood, we decided it was necessary to check this out; and we’re very glad we did.
Paramount is the largest landowner in Hollywood, with a colossal 65 acres worth. The VIP tour escorts the visitors on a large polished black golf buggy, which is surprisingly comfortable.
“Even if you’re not a film buff, it’s interesting to learn about the wealth of history.”
First up, we got to take a trip through their New York movie set, which we were interested to learn could be hired for around $12,000 per day. We then moved through to the costume department, which provided a great insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes. Up next came the set-making department, before we were taken to the movie vault – which was probably the most impressive element of the tour, in our opinion. Following that, we saw the prop archive and the TV sets, before settling for lunch in the grounds.
Lunch on the Paramount tour is a casual affair, where guests are served a freshly prepared buffet right in the heart of the estate. The food was perfectly good, and set us up to continue on with the rest of the tour throughout the afternoon.
We would thoroughly recommend that you consider this as an activity option whilst in Hollywood. Even if you would not consider yourself a film buff, it’s interesting to learn about the wealth of history that has been made here. It was a trip we were very glad we made, and have no doubt that you would not be disappointed. We would even go back and do it again given the opportunity, as there was so much to take in, we would be interested to learn more.
