Located in downtown LA, the Library Bar is a beautifully designed restaurant. It almost feels like a private members clubs in Soho, with its low level lighting, lavish fabrics, and regal furnishings.
It’s a small and intimidate venue. You have a view of the staff mixing cocktails, so you get to see professionals doing what they do best. It’s an engaging experience.
With that being said, we decided to try a few of their cocktails. Each one was carefully mixed and delivered to our table.
Throughout the evening we had a ‘Blackberry Bramble’, made with Absolut Vodka, Muddled Blackberry, Lemon Juice and Simple Syrup. A sweet and delicious cocktail. Next we sampled a ‘French 75’, mixed with Ford’s Gin, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, and a Float of Champagne. Another sweet and refreshing drink.
“The staff truly understand the art of cocktail making.”
Next, we had a ‘First Edition’, which comprised of Wiser’s Rye, China China, and Laphrroaig Rinse. As well as a ‘Spicy Margarita’, a cocktail with Cabeza Tequila, Ancho Reyes, Lime Juice and Agave. Plenty of kick, and a smooth delivery of flavour.
We were also temped by a ‘Femme Fatale’, comprising of Aylesbury Duck Vodka, Aperol, Giffard Peach, and Lemon Jui. An enjoyable cocktail, with its blend of lemon and vodka. Finally we sampled a ‘Viva Zapata’, mixed with Don Amado Repsado Mezcal, Amargo Vallet, Lime Juice and Agave. We could have carried on sampling cocktails all night, as each one presented its own unique flavour.
We had some light snacks with our drinks. Edamame with Sea Salt and Chili-Lime Seasoning, and some Bacon wrapped Dates. Which were dates wrapped in bacon, with Maytag Blue Cheese and a Gastrique sauce.
The staff truly understand the art of cocktail making. I think we will have to return, just to finish sampling their menu.
