Located in West Hollywood, Bar Harlowe is a beautifully deisgned bar indeed. Breaking away from the obvious, Bar Harlowe has been designed with a vintage approach, and is very quirky indeed.
We popped by to try out a selection of cocktails, and were very glad we did.
“The evening was thoroughly enjoyable”
We started with The Clementine, which is a blend of vodka, aperol, lemon, agave nectar and mandarin. It was fruity and delicious, with just the right balance of alcohol to cut through the sweetness of the fruit flavours.
Up next, we enjoyed The Gilbert, which is a pisco based cocktail that’s served with chardonnay and grape cordial, and is finished interestingly with the bar’s homemade five-spice. It is as delicious as it is innovative.
A West Hollywood was next on the cards – a blend of apple brandy, noilly prat amber, dry curacao, bitters, and calvados soaked apple.
Finally, we sampled a Greenacre Cocktail, which sees a mix of vodka and kalamata jus, a bay leaf, tincture, and thyme. It was strangely very compelling.
We chose a selection of small dishes to accompany our drinks, including charred Brussels sprouts with grapes, capers, and tarragon; ipa battered smelts with French fries; caponata bruschetts with burrata, and heirloom tomato.
We also enjoyed a bottle of Don and Sons, Pinot Noir, 2012.
The evening was thoroughly enjoyable, and we would definitely recommend Bar Harlowe as a place to start you evening with a few cocktails.
