Estérel is a Mediterranean restaurant located inside the Sofitel in Beverly Hills with Executive Chef Victor Boroda at the helm. The restaurant has a large dining room and outdoor garden terrace. However, we opted for a large booth by the window overlooking the garden during our visit. The menu has an interesting selection of dishes, the Squid and Calamari appetiser was divine and a must try and there are plenty more to explore.
To begin I ordered the Baked Camembert Cheese and Rustic Bread. The Camembert was lovely and gooey, just the right consistency and temperature. An enjoyable and delicious starter, dipping bread into Camembert is always a great way to start the evening. My partner ordered the Octopus and Calamari a la Plancha, with Boudin Blanc, Escarole, Garbazo, and French Feta. Another superb dish, the Octopus and Calamari was prepared perfectly.
“Every dish that left the kitchen was of the highest standard.”
For our main course I ordered the Grass Fed Filet Mignon, served with Fall Vegetable Fricassee, Anson Mills Grits, and Bordelaise. Grass Fed Beef has a deep and strong flavour, the kitchen seared the flavour masterfully and I really enjoyed this dish. My partner ordered the Braised Lamb Shank, with Piperade, Shishito, and Salsa Verde. The Lamb was wonderfully presented and delivered on flavour.
Our chosen wine for the evening was a 2003, Malibu Family Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semler, Malibu Estate. A deep purple wine with spicy notes and undertones of dark fruits.
We had a wonderful evening of dining and found the staff to be hospitable and knowledgeable. We hope we have the opportunity to visit again in the future to sample more dishes from the menu at Estérel, and have no problem recommending this restaurant.
