The York and Albany Hotel is one of a growing Ramsay empire that now spans the globe. It’s a town house hotel between Regent’s Park and Camden Market, making it the ideal stopping place for a city break.
The venue is small, with only 6 rooms, a bar and restaurant. This seems a restaurant and bar with rooms, rather than a hotel with a restaurant and bar. The right way round as far as we were concerned.
The décor is simple modern, with unadorned walls, feature walls with gentle wallpaper and a carefully designed interior that would appeal to anyone. We had Room 5, which had a large four-poster bed that dominated the room.
The room was of a good size, as was the bed. The bed was comfortable, with a relatively new mattress that was still nice and firm. It had a rich wood headboard and carved posts that added a touch of luxury to proceedings. The covers were soft and warm and the rest of the linen of a high quality. We slept very well.
“The York and Albany Hotel is a nice place to stay with a good location, thoughtful décor and good service.”
The rest of the room had everything one would need, an LCD TV, phone, Wi-Fi and the usual. The bathroom was nice, with clean tiles, nice warm flooring, bright lights, soft towels and a great shower. There were enough products to go round and enough room to get ready without getting in each other’s way.
The rest of the hotel is similarly outfitted, there are three room types, Classic, Superior and Deluxe, ours was Deluxe. Each is outfitted in a slightly different, but compatible way that also complemented the public spaces.
Being a pub/restaurant/hotel, those spaces are minimal, being the bar, where breakfast is served. However, the area is nice, relaxed and very nice. It isn’t your usual rowdy bar, it’s a nice, civilised place to spend time. We felt genuinely comfortable there, even in the evening.
The York and Albany Hotel is a nice place to stay with a good location, thoughtful décor and good service. It is somewhere we would return and happily review again.
