The Cadogan Hotel in London is on the ever-so fashionable Sloane Street a short walk from designer boutiques and a number of embassies. The location is excellent, an ideal place to capture the wealthy and well-to-do.

The building is a traditional one, with décor to match. It offers a highly polished insight into quintessentially English décor. From the wood panelling to the patterned wallpaper, subtle lighting to the amazing antique lift in the lobby. It all conspires to create a feeling of character and history that just adds to the experience.

The uniformed staff were friendly and welcoming and gave an excellent first impression. We were quickly checked in and on our way to the suite and used the fantastic lift which was an experience in itself.

“The Cadogan Hotel isn’t for everybody, but if you like traditional British then you’ll love it here.”

We had a Junior Suite, which was of a good size and reflected the traditional sensibilities of the rest of the hotel. It had a decent-sized bed, broadband, iPod docking station, safe, minibar and a small-ish LCD TV. The bathroom was of good proportions, with nice lighting, fluffy towels and was spotlessly clean.

We slept well, as the thick curtains kept most of the light at bay and the decent windows minimised noise very well indeed. We did hear the clatter of the old lift occasionally, but that only added to the character.

The hotel has the awkwardly named, Great Taste at The Cadogan restaurant, which features a Masterchef winner and a food journalist as menu writers. We didn’t dine here, but from what we heard from other guests, the food seems of a high standard.

There is also a small gym on site if you simply can’t go without your exercise. It is small, but perfectly formed.

Everything at the Cadogan Hotel was of a high quality, utterly clean, well maintained and fit for purpose. The décor isn’t for everybody, but if you like traditional British then you’ll love it here. The bed was comfortable, the soft furnishings decadent and decorative and the entire experience was positive. We would happily visit here again.
