Les Trois Garcons is a super-cool restaurant located in Shoreditch. We were excited about our visit, but first, decided to stop off for a couple of pre-dinner cocktails at Lounge Lover - Les Trois Garcons’ sister bar.
Lounge Lover is an eclectic antiques garage style bar. Very original, and very stylish, we were excited to get a taste of their cocktails. We opted to try a ‘Jubilation’, which is a blend of gin with muddled green and red grapes, sweetened with elderflower and topped up with Rosé Champagne. We also sampled a ‘Strawberry Delight’, which, loyal to its namesake, consisted of beautiful freshly muddled strawberries blended with gin, elderflower and a splash of bubbles. They were just beautiful!
Lounge Lover provided the perfect venue for a pre-dinner cocktail, and we left with great anticipation as to what would be in store for us at Les Trois Garcons.
“There’s plenty to capture your eye and imagination in this restaurant!”
Les Trois Garcons is formed inside a converted Victorian pub and features a haven of antiques and collectable. Les Trois Garcons offers quality French food in an arty and stylish Shoreditch setting. Amongst its many antiques and collectables is an impressive collection of taxidermy, featuring a most grand giraffe neck. With all these interesting feature points, there’s plenty to capture your eye and imagination in this restaurant!
For our starters, we opted for the foie gras cured in Sauternes, cooked “au torchon” and served with toasted brioche, seared foie gras and an apple and shallots tart tatin. We chose the butternut squash and Parmesan veloute served with a truffle éclair. Both dishes were superb, and were paired with a beautiful glass of Canadian Ice Cider.
For our main courses, we both shared the chateaubriand for two, which came served with Jersey Royal potatoes, spinach, bone marrow, red wine and balsamic jus and a béarnaise sauce. Again, the dish was just beautiful. The meat was cooked to perfection, melt in the mouth, and the side dishes were simple, yet perfect. It was also paired with a glass of the 2011 Domaine Belleville Rully Ier Cru, which was the ideal accompaniment.
After having such a delicious meal thus far, we thought it would be a shame not to sample dessert, so we decided to share the flourless chocolate sponge with chocolate mousse and dark chocolate, served with fresh coulis and tuille raspberries. This was paired with a 2010 Cahors Malbec, and was similarly to die for.
Overall our evening was a delight, and we would thoroughly recommend that you check out this very interesting restaurant. We would certainly return and were very impressed, particularly with the standard of the food.
