Located in Kensington, Cassis is a great find for all Italian lovers. Modern, yet authentic in design, this restaurant holds a certain charm.
As we arrive our coats are taken from us by friendly staff, and we are shown to our table. Once seated, we were served a portion of classic warm arancini, which certainly wet our appetites, and we so wasted no time in making our choices...
To start, we opted for the Yellowfin tuna tartare with poppy seed crackers, and the Scottish lobster spaghetti. The dishes were simply beautiful, full of deliciously fresh flavours, with the homemade pasta being a real, authentic experience. We thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful, and waited for our main courses with baited breath.
“The atmosphere is relaxed, and the food exquisite...”
Up next, we enjoyed the veal cutlet Milanese and the whole sea bass with a rocket and cherry tomato salad, which was specially prepared at the table side. For side dishes, we opted for the olive oil mashed potato, and a portion of spinach.
We were so impressed with the quality of the dishes that we simply could not pass up dessert. We chose to sample the Eton Mess with an Italian twist - served almost trifle like in layers, in a beautiful glass - and the chocolate mille-feuille.
Our meal was accompanied by a bottle of 2008 red wine from Provence. It’s not just the a la carte menu we thoroughly enjoyed at Cassis - their wine list also makes for an excellent read. The staff are also very attentive and knowledgeable, so our tip would be to make the most of them - they’re very helpful and keen to answer any questions you may have.
It’s worth noting that Cassis also offer a three-course weekend brunch menu, which you can enjoy with unlimited Champagne for just £41 per person. We’d say that’s well worth a visit for a weekend treat.
We would thoroughly recommend Cassis for anyone with a penchant for Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the food exquisite - which, in our book, makes for the most enjoyable evening. We will certainly return, hopefully in the near future, and definitely suggest that you check this one out for yourself.
