Chop House, part of the D&D Group, can be found located in Butler’s Wharf near Tower Bridge, is a lovely restaurant. Offering casual dining, the restaurant features beautiful views of London.
We visited for Sunday Lunch and were seated at a lovely window table, looking out at views across the Thames and Tower Bridge. We were greeted and served by very friendly and efficient staff, which set the tone for what was about to be a lovely lunch.
We began our consumption with a glass of Moet and Chandon, which was the perfect Sunday Lunch aperitif. Although the restaurant was very busy, this did not impact at all on either the level of service or the efficiency, and we were taken care of as if we were the only people in the restaurant.
“Chop House takes traditional classics, brings them up to date and makes them irresistible.”
For our starters, we opted for the chicken liver pate served with a Yorkshire pudding (a great alternative to bread!) and grape chutney; and the game and pistachio terrine served with Seville orange and red chard. The starters were wonderful – excellent flavours and just the right amount to tantalise us before the main event.
Being Sunday Lunch, we both opted for the roast rump of Longhorn beef, served with Yorkshire puddings, carrots, parsnips and roast potatoes.
We enjoyed a bottle of the Argentinian Malbec, which was the ideal red meat accompaniment.
If you enjoy a good Sunday roast, then Chop House is definitely the place for you. Make sure you pick a good day weather-wise to enjoy the view and take an empty stomach, as you will want to sample as much as possible. Chop House takes traditional classics, brings them up to date and makes them irresistible. We would happily return, and I look forward to booking in my Sunday roast there in the very near future. It’s well worth going out of your way for.
