The Brunello Lounge and Restaurant sits inside the 5-star Baglioni Hotel in London. It is a high class venue with high standards and a great atmosphere, perfect for an evening for two.

The Baglioni Hotel is an Italian-inspired hotel in the middle of London. The Brunello Lounge and Restaurant is it’s dining room. It is a high class dining room combined with a refined lounge and bar, all with a Mediterranean twist.

The décor is contemporary, with lots of brown, cream and tactile fabrics. The furnishings and décor manage to combine elegance with a relaxed approach that immediately set you at ease. There are a number of armchairs around small tables, as well as dining tables.

The highlight for us was the terrace. Thanks to a sunny day, we were able to dine outside and enjoy our dinner al fresco.

Our starter was Burrata cheese served with Sicilian caponata and courgette and mint soup with seared tuna and crispy leek. The starters were Italian-style and very tasty. You could literally taste the freshness of the ingredients and whet our appetite perfectly for the main course.

“The Brunello Lounge and Restaurant combine elegance with a relaxed approach that immediately set you at ease.”

That main course was smoked aubergine and goats cheese calzonecelli with fresh tomatoes and deep fried lemon sole with root vegetable tempura and soy sauce, with sides of mashed and rosemary sautéed potato.

Even though they were fried, the smoked aubergine and goats cheese calzonecelli was light, fresh and very tasty. The fresh tomatoes gave a light sweetness that worked perfectly with the cheese.

The fried lemon sold was equally light and tasty. The meat fell off the fork and was very tender indeed. The tempura was also well prepared and tasted superb. The vegetables were still able to sing through the light batter.

Dessert was home-made sorbet. Those sorbets were probably the best we have ever tasted. We shared strawberry, vanilla and lemon and each was out of this world. It would be worth returning here for those alone.

Our meal at The Brunello Lounge and Restaurant was entirely positive. The food was great, the service swift and those sorbets were just amazing. We would happily return.
