Beaufort Bar can be found inside the ever so glamorous Savoy Hotel. The Beaufort Bar holds an overwhelming sense of character, sophistication and elegance, which is quite a rare statement. But describes the Beaufort Bar perfectly. It’s a charming place to spend the evening, and on top of this we were blown away by the innovation behind each cocktail creation.
While browsing the pop-up cocktail menu and deciding what to order we were introduced to a number of cocktails and their intriguing stories. We were told why and how each cocktail had been created, and it was both fascinating and impressive hearing how much thought and detail has gone into each cocktail.
Each cocktail also comes with an ornament or object relevant to your choice. My personal favourite was the Winston Churchill ashtray with a smoking cinnamon stick to replace the rather large cigar.
First up we sampled the ‘Girl from Jalisco’. Mixed with Bombay Original “Liquor”, Blanco Tequila, Hibiscus and Rosehip Tea, Citrus, Beaufort Grenadine and Jalisco Bitters. The blend of flavours with the rich Tea and Citrus tones makes for a drink with a notable depth and body. My partner sampled the ‘Never Ending Story’, mixed with Bacardi 1909, Dark Crème de Cacao, Absinthe, Citrus and Sugar. This drink was inspired by Ernest Hemingway and his journeys. Any drink with Absinthe certainly packs a kick, and this was well-received.
“If like me you love a good cocktail, this will certainly not disappoint.”
Next I sampled the ‘Pomelo and While Pepper Gimlet’. A wonderful cocktail with a Citrus tone and wrapped in a fiery Pepper. It’s mixed with Bombay Sapphire Gin and Pomelo and White Pepper Cordial. My partner sampled the cocktail simply titled ‘Impressionist’. Comprising of Grey Goose Vodka, Miclo Violette Liqueur, Cherry Marnier, Raspberry Ruinart Rose and Rose Frog. The Raspberry and Cherry flavours gives this cocktail a wonderful, fruity tone.
For my final cocktail I sampled the ‘Embankment Gardens’, this cocktail is mixed with Oxley Gin, Spiced Martini Bianco, Citrus and Fig Leaf Syrup. This drink is inspired by the beautiful gardens on the South Side, and the Fig Leaves are actually collected from this area. It’s a splendid cocktail and delivers a blend of flavours I could have sipped all evening. My partner finished up with the ‘Pear and Liquorice Bellini’, comprising of Pear and Liquorice Puree St Germain Elderflower Liquor, Louis Roederer Brut Premier, and Grated Tonka Bean. An interesting creation, but masterfully done and the flavours blended perfectly.
If like me you love a good cocktail, the Beaufort Bar will certainly not disappoint, and we will happily return to sample more in the future.
