The city of Leeds is filled with fancy boutiques, high street gems, charming little coffee shop hideaways, and upmarket hotels. The New Ellington is one of these hotels, it's an establishment that I have been looking to visit for quite some time now. Fortunately, I recently got the chance to do just that.
The New Ellington could hardly be more central, and this is a huge draw for visitors who want to experience all that the city has to offer. We booked a Studio Suite during our stay, which was quite the sprawling space, but it did feel a little lacklustre at times. The décor, whilst going for that decadent bohemian vibe, was more on the side of shabby chic.

The crispness that you often see with upmarket hotels was missing, and things just looked a little tired. Nevertheless, the bed was extremely comfortable, and we enjoyed great sleep whilst at the New Ellington. It also helped that the staff were so friendly, and eager to help with anything that we might want or need.
The innovative gin garden is where the hotel really comes into its own, with more than 120 varieties and a lush, tropical style environment in which to enjoy them. This is a really interesting place to spend an evening, and we did enjoy a range of cocktails and craft beers at the bar.
On the whole, our stay at the New Ellington was a good experience. However, it did not match up to many of the other establishments that we have visited, and it seems to lack a little of the flair and character which its bohemian brand appears to promise.
