La Grande Limonaia can be found inside the Lefay Spa and Hotel, Lake Garda. This charming Italian restaurant boasts the most gorgeous views overlooking the Lake itself, and offers a fantastic selection of Mediterranean food.

Using a daily selection of only the freshest, seasonal produce, La Grande Limonaia, is certainly a cut above when it comes to authentic, homemade dishes. The menu also offers a selection of low-calorie dishes, for the health conscious, and really does cater for all tastes.

“His food is is a huge credit to the resort.”

Executive Chef, Matteo Maenza, is a firm believer in modernising the traditional Mediterranean diet, and going with the seasons. His food is a credit to the resort.

We were warmly greeted on arrival, and shown to our table. We sipped on fine Italian wine, whilst perusing the menu, and waited for our starters with great anticipation.

For our first course, we opted for the wheat and barley spaghetti with king crab and zucchini flowers, and the lemon and rosemary risotto, creamed with ‘Toma al tre latti’ cheese and sliced almond. Our starters were beautiful; full of gorgeously fresh flavours and textures. We were impressed.

For our main courses, we moved on to the Pike’s ‘Blanquette’, which consisted of crunchy polenta from Storo, Savoy cabbage and Italian smoked bacon from the Sam marino area; as well as the sea bass fillet with creamed carrot, asparagus and snow peas. Again, we were very impressed with both the flavour combinations, and the gorgeous presentation.

We simply couldn’t pass up on dessert, so we opted to try the pistachio mille feuille with Chantilly cream and strawberries, and the lemon mousse, made with local lemons from Lake Garda, which came served with basil.

We were extremely impressed by the dishes we experienced. Executive Chef, Matteo Maenza, makes good on the restaurant’s ethos to modernise the traditional Mediterranean diet, and go with the seasons. His food is both authentic and genuine, and is a huge credit to the resort.

We would certainly recommend that you visit La Grande Limonaia if you’re ever in the region. The food is delicious, the service is very good, and the wine list is equally as impressive. All that, and a stunning location makes for a very special experience indeed.
