The Aviator Hotel in Farnborough is a modern, slick operation that should appeal to lovers of modernity and high quality accommodation in equal measure.

We've stayed here before, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. As much as we love exploring new hotels, it’s also nice to revisit to see if we go the full picture and to see if standards are retained.

The Aviator is a huge, modern building with art décor flair, an impressive circular staircase, uniformed staff and a real sense of theatre about it. The aircraft theme is apt for the location and manages to add to the character without getting in the way.

Just as before, we were greeted warmly and provided with a complimentary drink while we were checked in. It didn’t take long, but neither did the drink!

We had a Junior Suite again, while it was a different room it was the same standard of care and attention to detail that impressed us so much last time. The king size bed was comfortable, warm and firm and provided a superb nights’ sleep.

The seating area had a sofa, chairs, a coffee table and LCD TV on the wall. This little area wasn’t an afterthought like in many hotels, it was a genuinely comfortable place to sit and spend time.

“The Aviator Hotel is a genuinely nice place to spend time.”

The bathroom was large and had a walk-in shower, large bath and plenty of space. The shower was lovely, with a drench shower head that really lived up to its name. The towels were clean, fluffy and wicked away water like only hotel towels can. The self-branded Aviator products were still there and were still of a high standard.

The large windows let in a huge amount of light that countered the amount of wood in the room nicely. Despite being large and facing an airport, we weren’t disturbed by the air traffic at all. We were able to watch private aircraft taxiing and take off without the noise that comes with it, which was ideal.

The room included entertainment, free Wi-Fi, free minibar, music library and a coffee maker. There was everything here to make our stay comfortable and want for nothing. It is a genuinely nice place to spend time. As suites go, the space and amenities on offer here make it well worth the investment.

The hotel has the Sky Bar, a stylish cocktail lounge that does the hotel credit. It’s an elegant place to spend an evening with a cocktail or two while meeting friends or listening to music.

There is also The Brasserie, which serves modern, locally inspired food in a relaxed setting. It has the same elegance as the Sky Bar, just in a different way. The Art Deco-inspired room has black and white pictures on the walls, wood panelling, leather chairs and intimate tables. Again, it is a nice place to spend time eating or meeting friends.

The Terrace is open during nice weather, which serves afternoon tea, cocktails and snacks. We had a quick drink here and it was a nice place to soak up the sunshine and while away an hour or two between appointments.

Our revisit to The Aviator Hotel in Farnborough was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The standards are still high, the hotel is still pristine and the main focus is still providing high quality accommodation at a reasonable price. This hotel remains somewhere we would happily revisit again.
