Lux Lucis can be found located inside the Principe Forte de Marmi hotel. Lux is the fine dining restaurant of the hotel, and it certainly lives up to its reputation.
When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Dining on the outside roof terrace, we were able to truly make the most of our surroundings, looking out over the resort’s private grounds.
The menu, the creation of Executive Chef, Valentino Cassanelli - consists of a wealth of contemporary Tuscan dishes.
"Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Lux Lucis."
We settled in for the evening, and enjoyed an appetiser whilst waiting for our first course to arrive.
Up first was the crispy nigiri with amberjack tartare. This course came served with a glass of Bruno Pillard Reserve Prove Blanc de Blancs.
Our second course saw raw scampi with fermented black cabbage, which came served with a glass of Nusserhof Blaterle, 2010.
Up next, we sampled the red mullet with pine and seaweed, served with a Forlini Cappellini Cinqueterre, 2011.
For the next fish course, we enjoyed sea bream with smoked cauliflowers, leeks, and truffle, which came served with a glass of Isole Olena Chardonnay, 2012.
Our penultimate course consisted of liquid parmesan raviolo with Florentine style tripe, with a glass of Henri Boillot Bourgogne Blanc, 2011.
Finally, we enjoyed the grilled pigeon with spinace and American grapes, served with a glass of Hofstatter Pinot Nero, Riserva Mazon, 2010.
Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Lux Lucis, and would certainly recommend it to anyone. Every dish was wonderfully creative and innovative. We would certainly return next time we’re in the area, as we were impressed, not just by the food, but by the service and overall ambiance.
