Guelfi e Ghibellini can be found inside the Relais Santa Croce hotel, Florence. Being just a short walk from the centre of Florence, this restaurant is worth going out of your way for.
Showcasing the passion of Chef Fabrizio Innocenti, this restaurant’s Tuscan offering is just superb. As a lovely of authentic Tuscan recipes, Innocenti’s menus include modern interpretations of beautifully classic dishes.
The interior of Guelfi e Ghibellini is small and intimate. The crisp white linen and beautiful ceiling frescos make for a wonderful setting, and the restaurant boasts the most comfortable dining chairs I have ever had the pleasure to experience - just imagine miniature armchairs, and you’re almost there - this is one candlelit dinner I’ll be sure to remember!
“Everything from the atmosphere, to the food and service was outstanding.”
We were looked after very well, and once shown to our table, we chose our wine for the evening. The wine list is very good, and we simply couldn’t resist a bottle of the Il Bruciato Bolgheri, 2012 from Tuscany. We sipped away quite happily whilst waiting for our starters - the wine was just beautiful.
To start, we opted for the Chianina beef tartar with artichokes and Grana Padano cheese, and the risotto with turnip tops, Tuscan bacon and Grana Padano cheese. The starters were superb; beautifully rich flavours, with the beef tartar being a real highlight.
For our main courses, we chose the Grilled Florentine T-bone steak for two. It was simply melt-in-the-mouth delicious, cooked to perfection, and wonderfully presented. What more could we ask for?
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Guelfi e Ghibellini. Everything from the atmosphere, to the food and service was outstanding. We will certainly be looking to return on our next Tuscan adventure, and would urge you to check it out if you’re ever in the area. You will not be disappointed.
