Located in Penzance, the Artists Residence offers a truly unique and quirky experience. It's a boutique retreat with 18 bedrooms and flats, a bar and restaurant. Split across three properties, you have the options of suites in the main building and 1-2 bedroom apartments. But it's the original designs and art work that adorn each room setting this boutique apart from the norm.

For art lovers it's a real treat. Even if you're not an art lover, you can't help but be impressed. There are pieces of art hanging all throughout the hotel, along with some spectacular mural designs painted on the walls. Some well-known artists have applied their crafts throughout the hotel. With Jo Peel painting a Chapel Street scene, and Sinead Geary applying a beautiful seascape to one of the rooms.

We decided to experience one of the two bedroom apartments on the 2nd floor. The apartment included its own fully equipped kitchen which was well designed. A bathroom with a shower cubical, and all the toiletries and towels you could possibly need. A master bedroom which was very spacious, it had the most comfortable bed, a beautiful free standing wardrobe, and a huge arm chair tucked away in the corner. There was also a second double bedroom that was slightly smaller.

“We have no hesitation in recommending Artists Residence.”

From the moment you enter the apartment you can't help but notice the artwork. Each room has been carefully thought about, and lends itself well to the brand name Artists Residence. There were some wonderful pieces of art hanging from the walls, from small pieces, to large, old, and new. Something for any art lover to discuss, or the casual viewer to enjoy.

The lounge area had a large sofa and arm chair, and my personal favourite item which was a makeshift coffee table that doubles up as a piece of art. It was made from a reused wooden pallet with industrial wheels attached to move around. There was a large dining table, very handy for anyone getting creative while cooking. There was also coffee, sugar, milk, dishwasher tablets, and a big jar of fox's mints present on arrival.

The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area, full of tips and advice for those looking to explore. Incidentally the location is perfect if you want to explore, Penzance is a wonderful part of the country, if you've never been you're missing out. For anyone looking for something a little different, we have no hesitation in recommending Artists Residence.
