MASH is a chain of restaurants that we’re fairly familiar with, having visited MASH in London’s Soho, as well as the chain’s other Copenhagen location, so we were very excited to visit MASH Penthouse. This restaurant can be found on the 12th floor of the Tivoli Hotel, and the views from this restaurant over Copenhagen’s city centre didn’t disappoint.

With the lights of the city as our backdrop, we arrived slightly early in great anticipation, so decided to take a drink at the bar whilst we waited for our table. After browsing the cocktail menu, we both decided on a classic Negroni. Sitting at the bar in prime position allowed us to watch as the bar staff worked their craft. Our Negroni's saw a mix of Sipsmith Gin, Campari and Sweet Vermouth served over a large hand-cut ice cube along with fresh orange peel. This was the perfect example of a Negroni, and was a joy to sip.

We were soon taken through to the main restaurant area which offers floor-to-ceiling windows allowing you to really enjoy the surrounding views. The decor is sharp, and features an abundance of their signature red colour, which represents the MASH brand wonderfully. The restaurant has a rather impressive wine display that takes up an entire wall, and features an abundance of bottles. It’s quite the talking point.

"This restaurant can be found on the 12th floor of the Tivoli Hotel, and the views from this restaurant of Copenhagen’s city centre did not disappoint.”

With menus in hand, we were soon ordering our choices. The menu is vast and tempting, but eventually I was able to decide on the grilled shrimps with parsley and fresh lemon to start; whilst my partner chose the salmon ceviche, which came served with fresh lemon, lime, ginger, garlic, avocado, mango, cucumber, coriander, chili and spring onion. These starters were so fresh and full of wonderful flavours. We were highly impressed with such a great start.

After much thought and debate, for my main course, I decided on their 300g American N.Y. Strip, which is from Greater Omaha, Nebraska. This certified and hormone free, corn-fed beef is as tender and full of flavour. My partner went for the 300g Danish Organic Tenderloin. Both were prepared perfectly and wonderfully presented, and we also opted for their peppercorn sauce along with a couple of side dishes, including MASH cream potatoes, French fries and green beans.

For our wine choice, we went for the 2010 Chateau La Nerthe, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone, France. This proved to be an excellent choice to complement our main courses, with an earthy nose, complex palette and a deep finish, we thoroughly enjoyed every sip.

Overall we were impressed with our visit to MASH Penthouse, and are thrilled to say that it completely lives up to the high reputation of the MASH brand. We will certainly be looking to return and highly recommend it as a great restaurant choice for anyone looking for a great meal in Copenhagen.
